Child Struck by Vehicle in New Canaan Friday Succumbs to Injuries

"The child, a two-year-old boy, was struck when a vehicle was attempting to back out of the driveway."

A 2-year-old New Canaan boy who was struck by a motor vehicle at about 4 p.m. Friday on Mill Road has passed away, police announced over the weekend.

New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski released this statement Saturday:

"A child that was struck by a vehicle on a residential driveway on Mill Road on June 6, 2014, succumbed to his injuries.

"The child, a two-year-old boy, was struck when a vehicle was attempting to back out of the driveway.

"The accident remains under investigation. No additional details will be released at this stage of the investigation.

A child was struck by a motor vehicle at about 4 p.m. on Mill Road and is in critical condition, New Canaan police announced late Friday afternoon.

The child was taken to Norwalk Hospital, police said, adding that the accident is under investigation. New Canaan police released no other details of the incident.

Mill Road is in the Silvermine section of New Canaan, mostly parallel to and west of the Silvermine River. When it reaches Norwalk, it becomes River Road.
