Cops: Husband Violates Restraining Order: Texts 45X

You may ignore a restraining order, as police said one New Canaan man did, but law enforcement officials won't ignore you.

A 37-year-old Forrest Street man, who had been arrested previously in connection with a dispute with his wife, had been ordered to have no contact with her -- but he texted her 45 times over several days, police said.

On Monday, March 24, his estranged wife gave a statement to New Canaan police about the texts, which were sent to her between March 17 and that day.

Police applied for an arrest warrant, which a judge approved. At 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, the husband turned himself in after police told him of the arrest warrant.

He was charged with criminal violation of a restraining order and his bond was set at $2,500, which he posted. He appeared the next day, March 26, in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
