Cops: NY Man Charged with Forgery for Using Fake $100s in New Canaan

A Bronx man was charged with forgery after he attempted to pass off two fake $100 bills at a Walgreens last week,  police alleged Monday.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc Joshua I. Nazario, 20, of 4317 Wickman Avenue in the Bronx, NY, allegedly attempted to use two fake $100 bills to purchase a reloadable gift card on Monday, September 30.

The cashier at the Walgreens at 39 Pine Street alerted police of the transaction at approximately 12:36 p.m. when she noticed the texture of the bills did not feel correct, Ogrinc said. The money was checked on scene and then again at a nearby bank and it was confirmed the bills were fake, Ogrinc said.

Nazario was still on the scene and was stopped upon police arrival, Ogrinc said. He was charged with first-degree forgery and released on a $10,000 bond. He has a scheduled court date of October 10, 2013.
