Darien Teen in 11-Person Accident Charged

The toxicology report revealed no alcohol in the driver's system.

The 11-person  at Smith Ridge and Michigan Road on June 22 has resulted in the Darien teen driver of the Suburban to be charged with four counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, possession of alcohol by a minor on a public street, motor vehicle passenger restriction (drivers under the age of 18 who have had their license for less than a year are not permitted to have passengers other than family), transporting more passengers than available seatbelts, and failure to obey a stop sign, said Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

According to police, toxicology reports indicated that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol.

The driver posted $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 22, said Ogrinc.

The other eight teens in the Suburban were not charged with anything, said Ogrinc.

To Jeff kids are kids and they do stuff like that no matter where they from... And to K.S. You suggesting they are murderers? I don't think they want to kill people kids just don't listen to grownups and learn the hard way, at least some of them. Ignorance is a decease in grownups wich needs to be cure... I hope you 2 find better words to describe something so sensible as this....

First, I agree w/P.R. Kids are Kids no matter where they are from. I think Kids are great for the most part. Wish I could be young and a Kid again. Ahhh me...Anyhow, as for the topic at hand. I am VERY GLAD to know that drugs and drinking were NOT involved in this. Since there was NO alcohol or drugs...The toxology report came out clean. So, why is there even an issue. The whole thing should be dismissed. Poor Kid(s) GLEN

Oh P.R. when Sonny Boy from New Canaan screws up BIG TIME, its ok because... MOMMY AND DADDY ARE ON THEIR WAY TO RESCUE HIM. Daddy shells out 100 grand, Sonny Boy gets 1 hour community service and POOF GOES HIS RECORD.

Mr. Dunbar, the kids broke multiple laws and put other drivers at risk. the car flipped for heaven sakes. the drivers license should be revoked until he is 21 years old and he should have a 100 hrs of comminity service going to schools telling them how shenanagins can lead to all sorts of bad things. the above reference to new canaan kids killing people refers to the lacrosse teen who killed a jogger. she needs to go prison until she is at least 25 years old and she will have had plenty of time to read and think but not text.
