Another Waveny Park Larceny Reported

Second report in several weeks of larceny from a car parked near Spencer's Run.

Larcenies Reported

Another larceny at Waveny Park was reported to police. , this was reported to have taken place at the parking lot near Spencer's Run, the dog park. 

A 46-year-old female from Norwalk told police that she left her car in the lot at about 1:10pm. When she returned, according to the police report, the rear passenger window was smashed and her purse was gone. The value of the purse was estimated at $100. Contents included a wallet valued at $10, a debit card and drivers license.

On Dec. 7 at 5:01pm a 77-year-old male Marvin Ridge Road resident reported to police that he discovered that property was missing from his van, which was parked on his property, unlocked. The missing items he reported are: two chainsaws (value: approximately $100 each), two electric drills (approximately $30 each), three extension cords (total approximately $45), and an automotive battery charger (approximate worth $75).

DWI Arrests

At approximately 10:52am on Dec. 8, police responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated driver in the Food Emporium parking lot at 282 Elm St. The report included a description of the vehicle and the license plate number, according to police. Officers arrived at the scene, and conducted a field sobriety test, according to their report.  The driver of the vehicle, Jane H. Delano, 53 of Elm St. New Canaan, was arrested for operating under the influence, a misdemeanor. She posted $260 bond and was given a court date of Dec. 22.

On Dec. 11 at 11:26am, police were called to the corner of Smith Ridge Rd. and Country Club Rd. where a motor vehicle accident had reportedly occurred. A field sobriety test was reportedly administered, after which Anthony Torres, 28 or White Plains, NY., was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, following too closely and improper passing. He posted a bond of $250 and was given a court date of Dec. 22. 

The operator of the second vehicle involved in the accident was a 61-year-old New Canaan resident. No one was reportedly injured.

Two Outstanding Warrants

reportedly turned himself in to police on Dec. 9 at 1:16am. There were two outstanding warrants for his arrest for failure to appear in the second degree. The original incidents were: an arrest on Oct. 22, 2009 for creating a public disturbance, an infraction; and criminal in the third degree.

He did not post bond, which was set at $15,000 and was transported to court later that day.
