Police: Drunk New Canaan Mother Throws Books at Child

New Canaan Police respond to three domestic-related incidents.

A 47-year-old New Canaan female was charged with disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a minor following a domestic incident at her residence on Jan. 15 at 7:43 p.m.

According to police, the woman’s ex-husband and their teenage child went over to the residence to get items from it and the woman, who was intoxicated, wouldn’t let the child retrieve those items.

Police said the woman pushed and also threw books at the child.

She was held on $5,000 bond and given a Jan. 16 court date.

A 40-year-old New Canaan man was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly pushed his wife to a floor after an argument. The woman wasn’t injured during the incident, which occurred on Jan. 19 at 11:37 p.m.

The man was released on a promise to appear in court Jan. 22.

A 47-year-old New Canaan woman was charged with three counts of violating the conditions of her release after she came to the police department to talk about issues with her estranged husband on Jan. 20 at 12:12 p.m.

According to police, officers determined there were three active warrants for her arrest stemming from previous domestic arrests.

She was held on three separate $10,000 bonds and was to appear in court Jan. 22.
