False 911 Report Leads to Burglary Arrest

The suspect told police he had been stabbed by his father.

A 60-year-old New Canaan resident has been charged with first degree burglary after he falsely reported a 911 incident on Saturday night, according to the .

Police said Gary Sirico of Brushy Ridge Rd. called 911 at 10:49 p.m. and told them he “was stabbed by his father and he was bleeding out and needed assistance.”

When officers arrived at the residence it was discovered that Sirico and his father had had a verbal argument outside the home, according to a police report. The father asked Sirico not to return to the residence.

“Sirico forced entry breaking a window severely cutting his arm at which time he called 911,” the report said.

Sirico was charged with first degree burglary, disorderly conduct, third degree criminal mischief and second degree falsely reporting an incident. He is being held without bond per the Connecticut Department of Probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 22.
