Fire Log: Accidents Keep Piling Up

Crashes continue to keep New Canaan Fire Company No. 1 busy.

More Accidents on Rt 123:

Firefighters cleaned up after another pair of car accidents on Rt 123 (a.k.a. Smith Ridge Road) over the last few days.

Around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, firefighters applied a drying agent to the road near the intersection of Michigan after a crash there. On Tuesday, Nov. 24 just before 5 p.m. two vehicles collided near Canoe Hill Road.


Pit Fire Extinguished:

After receiving a report of burning in the woods from a neighbor, firefighters responded to a house on Country Club Road shortly before noon Sunday, Nov. 22, where they put of a small pit fire. 


False Alarms—5:


Firefighters responded to five alarms that proved unfounded between Saturday, Nov. 21, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, including an alarm at the Waveny Care Center Sunday afternoon. The alarm went off at a house on South Avenue Saturday when an occupant forgot to open the damper before setting a fire in the fireplace.
