Fire Log: Firefighters Handle Structure Fire, Dead Batteries

New Canaan Fire Company No. 1 was also called out for numerous accidents and false alarms in the past week.

Fire in the Wall: 

The inside of a house on Jelliff Mill Road suffered some charring Monday, April 19, after a fire that ignited in the wall behind the kitchen stove. The alarm company called to alert firefighters about the fire at 8:26 p.m. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.

Dying Batteries Activate Detector at Pre-School: 

New batteries was all it took to resolve a carbon monoxide alarm sounding at New Canaan Community Nursery School around 1:40 p.m. Monday, April 19.

Fire Alarms Answered—8: 

New Canaan firefighters responded to eight calls later labeled as false alarms this week, including one at Silver Hill's Jurgenson House where the alarm was tripped accidentally around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21. 

 

Accident Victims Rescued—3: 

Firefighters also helped free occupants trapped by separate accidents on Smith Ridge Road and Richmond Hill in the past week. Check the Accident Report for details on those incidents. They rescued a third person who crashed into a tree on Oenoke Ridge.
