Fire Log: Fishy Odors, Burning Transformers & False Alarms

Firefighters responded to several calls in the past week.

Fire crews responded to the following calls from July 25 to July 30:

Something Smells Fishy: A homeowner at 265 Brushy Ridge Road called the fire department on July 27 at 11:10 p.m. after detecting a fishy smell in a utility room. Fire crews assessed the situation before deciding there was no risk.

Overheating Generator: A police officer called fire crews to investigate an unusually hot generator at 121 Ferris Hill Road on July 26 at 9:47 p.m. The homeowner was not home and the generator was turned off.

Burning Transformer: Firefighters responded to a burning transformer at 137 Harrison Avenue on July 26 at 4:24 p.m. The fire caused power outage to the surrounding area and a call was placed to Connecticut Light & Power.

False Alarms: Firefighters responded to seven false alarms last week, including one caused by a test of the fire alarm at the Waveny Care Center on July 27 and another at Walter Stewarts' supermarket on July 28.
