Car Drives Into Woods:

Around 12:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, firefighters responded to the scene of an accident on White Oak Shade Road near Putnam Road where a couple had driven off the road. Both airbags deployed. Firefighters stayed on the scene until the car was drug away by a wrecker.

Firefighters were only on the scene of a Sunday night crash on Old Stamford Road for a few minutes because no extrication was necessary and no fluids needed to be cleaned up. EMS took care of two elderly patients involved in the incident.

House Flooded:

Firefighters shut off the power and water at a house on Smith Ridge Road Wednesday, Feb. 3, after receiving a call around 3:45 p.m. that the house was flooded.

False Alarm—5:

The Fire Department dealt with five false alarms in the past week, four of them on Tuesday; a fifth alarm Tuesday was set off by smoke from cooking.

Sunday firefighters found nothing when they went to investigate a report of smoke in a building on Gerdes Road; a carbon monoxide alarm earlier that day also proved unfounded.
