Former Carpe Diem Employee Arrested for Criminal Trespassing

Mauricio Ruiz Cortez, 29, was allegedly intoxicated and yelling inside of the restaurant, according to police

 

A 29 year-old New Canaan man was arrested on Dec. 4 for allegedy causing a scene at his former place of employment Carpe Diem restaurant on Locust Avenue, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.

Mauricio Ruiz Cortez of Forest Street was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree breach of peace after the owner called and told police that the suspect, who was instructed not to return after parting ways with the restaurant, arrived on the property intoxicated and started yelling, police said. By the time officers arrived at the scene, Cortez had left the property, but he was later located in the center of town, Ogrinc said.

Cortez's bond was set at $2,500, which he did not post, and he was transported to state Superior Court at Norwalk the following day.
