Man Attempts To Use Counterfeit $100 Bills at Walgreen's

The incident occurred last week.

New Canaan Police are investigating the attempted use of five counterfeit $100 bills at Walgreen’s on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the store’s manager called police at 9:08 p.m. to report a black man in his 20s attempted to buy $500 worth of gift cards. The clerk noticed the bills did not look legit, and after they were processed through a machine, it was determined without a doubt the bills were fake.

The man, who had short hair, was wearing a red shirt and is approximately 5’8’’, exited the store and was seen getting into a four-door white Kia with New Jersey plates.
