Man Wielding Baseball Bat Robs Woman in New Canaan

A man wielding a baseball bat allegedly robbed a woman in New Canaan Thursday night near Lakeview Avenue.

According to  officials, officers responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Millport and Lakeview Avenue. An unidentified female said she was getting out of her car when a man with a baseball bat demanded money from her.

The woman said the man threatened to hit her with the bat if she didn't give him her money.The police report stated the woman told the suspect she wasn't carrying any money. The suspect then allegedly grabbed a bag from the woman's car and ran toward Lakeview Avenue. The victim, who was not injured in the incident, said the bag contained candles valued at $25.

According to police officials, the suspect is a white male, possibly Hispanic, in his early 20's. He was said to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering and red sweat pants. The suspect is believed to weigh between 110 and 120 pounds.

An investigation is on-going.
