A patient  of the Silver Hill Hospital who went missing on Wednesday night, the same night the Planning & Zoning Board denied the hospital its expansion application, has been located, according to New Canaan Police.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, a resident of the hospital identified as Ronald Mahtociqala went missing from the institution.

After being located at approximately 3:15 p.m. Thursday in Hempstead, Long Island, New York, he was transported to University Medical Center in Hempstead for evaluation, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

Residents in the immediate area received reverse-911 calls from the town's alert system. Patch reader Amy Solan describes her ordeal as she was heading home from the municipal government meeting (reproduced with minor edits highlighted in brackets. Bold emphasis the doing of the submitter.)

"[To the Editor]:

After the Planning and Zoning Commission denied the Silver Hill Expansion Application tonight, the Neighbors of Silver Hill returned to their homes only to be put on lock down.

Once again, Police were searching the area by foot with flashlights looking for a Silver Hill patient.  The police told [residents] they were dispatching a helicopter. The NC police said the man may not be a danger to the residents, but he could be a danger to himself.

Neighbors were asked to lock their doors and stay inside.

Respectfully submitted,
Amy Solan"

This incident comes on the heals of a Letter to the Editor submitted Wednesday calling for a denial of the hospital's attempt at "institutional creep."
