Multiple Cars Broken Into at New Canaan's Waveny Park

Three vehicles were broken into at New Canaan's Waveny Park last week, though luckily only a one vehicle seems to have had anything taken, and even in that instance, the victim was able to safeguard themselves against loss.

On Thursday, January 2, 2014, police responded to calls that several vehicles had shattered passenger side windows in the park, two near the water tower and one near the Carriage Barn. In only one vehicle, a wallet appeared to have been stolen.

Sgt. Peter Condos said the call came in at approximately 9:45 a.m. and, since snow had recently started falling, they believe the crime had been committed in only the previous hour or so as footprints were visible at the scene.

Condos said the crime is particularly frustrating as there are no security surveillance cameras in the are to watch over the lots at the park.

All three victims are New Canaan residents. The victim whose wallet was stolen was able to immediately cancel their credit cards, though an undisclosed amount of cash was also contained in the wallet.
