The victim in a brutal attack in New Canaan that came after the woman served her then-husband with divorce papers testified at his trial at state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday.
Mary Margaret Farren, 47, testified for more than an hour July 7, describing the beating she said came at the hands of her then-husband, former White House counsel J. Michael Farren, according to The Advocate.
Farren, 61, who was granted court permission not to attend the trial on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault and risk of injury to a child, could face 50 years in jail if the jury finds him guilty on all counts.
Mary Farren described how the attack of Jan. 6, 2010, at the then-couple's Wahackme Road home in New Canaan, followed her serving her husband with divorce papers two days prior.
