New Canaan DUI Arrest Follows Yelling, Pushing Downtown

The 56-year-old is said to have become angry because his pick-up food wasn't ready.

A 56-year-old Kent man faces a drunk driving charge following an incident in downtown New Canaan.

David McAndrew was arrested March 30 and charged with driving under the influence and unsafe movement of a motor vehicle.

Police say they received several 911 calls around 9:50 p.m. on reports that a man had pushed an employee of Chef Luis when he was told his food wasn’t ready for pick-up.

According to Lt. Vincent DeMaio, McAndrew was trying to pick up his food from the alleyway at the rear of the restaurant (pictured), where the incident occurred.

He reportedly starting yelling after pushing the worker, then got into his vehicle and sped off. According to DeMaio, police stopped McAndrew and he failed field sobriety tests.

He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear April 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
