New Canaan Man, 22, Cited for Pot Possession

An infraction summons issued against the Beacon Hill Road resident for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.

 

A 22-year-old New Canaan man was cited on a minor drug charge after police found a small bag of marijuana on him during a motor vehicle stop last week, officials said.

William McKenzie, of Beacon Hill Road, was issued an infraction summons for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana at 8:37 p.m.  on Feb. 15.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department, McKenzie was stopped on Beacon Hill Road off of Silvermine Road/Route 106, just south of New Norwalk Road, because his car had a frame around the rear license plate.

When police stopped the car, McKenzie appeared to be nervous, slurring his speech, and the officer asked whether there were any illegal substances within the vehicle, police said.

McKenzie said no but the officer saw a flakes and marijuana seeds on the driver’s side and then found a small bag of marijuana inside his jacket pocket, police said.
