A 26 year-old man was arrested on Dec. 14 for allegedly attempting to steal a jar of mayonnaise, a salt and pepper shaker set, and a pack of strawberry Pop-Tarts from the Mobil gas station on South Avenue, according to New Canaan Police Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.
The gas station owner told police that Christopher Millbrett of Forest Street, New Canaan, entered the the station at around 3 a.m. and was seen attempting to conceal the items in his pants via surveillance video. The owner then hit the panic alarm, according to Ogrinc, which prompted officers to arrive and arrest Millbrett.
Millbrett was charged with sixth-degree larceny and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27.
