New Canaan Man Arrested with Child Pornography

A 21-year-old New Canaan man turned himself over to police today for possession of child pornography.

A New Canaan man was arrested on July 17 for possession of child pornography, police said.

Elliot L. Maynes, 21, at 283 Buttery Road in New Canaan turned himself into police at 2:15 p.m. on July 17 with a warrant out for his arrest after a P.C. Richards and Sons employee reported finding child pornography on Maynes’ laptop while performing repair work, stated Sgt. Carol Ogrinc.

After a Search and Seizure Warrant was obtained for the computer, a forensic analysis uncovered over 50 images of child pornography on the laptop, stated Ogrinc.

Maynes was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and was released on $50,000 bond, stated Ogrinc.

Maynes is scheduled to appear in court on July 27 at 10 a.m., police said.
