Authorities responding to reports of a familial dispute charged an. Osborn Lane man with a number of related offenses, New Canaan Police said this week.

According to Sgt. Carol. Ogrinc, offices were dispatched to an Osborn Lane residence on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 8:51 p.m. after receiving a call from the victim, who said she was currently at a neighbor's house and that a dispute with her husband had turned physical.

Upon arrival, officers found Vito Luciano, 41, attempting to leave the residence in a motor vehicle, Ogrinc said. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with Luciano, then separately with the his brother and wife.

Officers said the man wouldn't let his wife leave their home though the front door during the argument, according to Ogrinc, then grabbed her by the throat when she attempted to leave out a second exit and threatened to kill her. When Luciano's brother attempted to intervene, Ogrinc said Luciano then began choking him as well.

Luciano was taken into custody and charged with two counts first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts second-degree threatening, two counts second-degree strangulation and a single count of disorderly conduct. He was held on $1 million bond, though that amount was ultimately lowered to $75,000 after he was transferred to court on Wednesday, Dec. 4, which Luciano then posted. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 8.
