New Canaan Man Charged with Carrying Gun in Airport Luggage

A New Canaan man is reported to have told federal Transportation Security Administration officers that the .22-caliber pistol in his luggage was there by mistake.

A New Canaan man, arrested after bringing his .22-caliber pistol in his luggage when he arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport on Monday, told authorities the gun was there by mistake, according to reports.

The handgun was found Monday morning when the man's bags were run through a security checkpoint, according to a WNTH-TV report.

The TSA initially did not release the man's name. Later, the New Canaan Advertiser gave the man's name as Wayne Kenneth Sr. and New Canaan News has given his name as Kenneth Edward Wynne Sr.

The New Canaan was traveling to Aruba, according to the Advertiser. New York-New Jersey Port Authority police arrested him on a New York state weapons charge.

A relative of the arrested man told the Advertiser that he has a conceal/carry permit in Connecticut and that the gun somehow got in the bag (or wasn't removed from it) by mistake while the bag was being packed.

Uh-huh, sure. "Sorry officer, I forgot to check out what was in my bags while packin' them"... BULLSHIT! I hope he goes up the river for a loooong time.

I know they will take away his permit and put him in jail because you just don't forget you have a gun at an airport. STUPID.
