New Canaan Man Charged with Possession of Pot in Cemetery

A New Canaan man was issued an infraction for marijuana possession after a police officer on patrol spotted the suspect and two other males hanging out in the Lakeview Cemetery.

According to authorities, three white males who appeared to be in their late teens or early twenties were spotted by police in the area on September 23 at approximately 5:45 p.m. Police had increased patrols there after they began receiving reports of youths drinking and using drugs at the burial grounds, authorities said.

Michael Chetta, 22, was issued an infraction of possession of less than half-an-ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
