New Canaan Man Hands Jar of Marijuana to Police

A New Canaan man is facing drug charges after police said they responded to reports of loud music coming from his residence and they discovered an amount of drugs in his home, police said.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, police responded to 97 South Avenue on Sunday, August 18, at approximately 10:53 p.m. for reports of loud music coming from a residence near South Avenue and Mead Street. Officers spoke to the homeowner, identified by Ogrinc as Christopher B. Keating, 55

While in the residence, Ogrinc said officers observed a small amount of marijuana in Keating's kitchen. When they pointed it out, Keating allegedly retrived of his own accord a jar from the freezer containing more marijuana and handed it to police.

Keating was charged with possession of less than half-an-ounce of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
