New Canaan Man Reports Theft of Custom Dress

The Sherwood Lane resident says someone swiped a dress he owned.

A 41-year-old New Canaan man, who lives on Sherwood Lane, reported to police someone had stolen a handmade custom dress from a closet in his house on Monday, Sept. 17 at 4:58 p.m.

According to police, the man thought the dress—valued at $1,200—was taken sometime between 10:30 and 1 p.m. that day.

Police said when the man's nanny returned home at 12:30 p.m. that day, she spotted a woman on the porch of the house carrying three bags full of clothing that someone had given her to drop off at the residence. There was no evidence to indicate that woman had stolen the dress, police said.
