New Canaan residents need to be wary of more than downed power lines and fallen trees, officials say: post-Sandy scammers are targeting the area.
According to a media release from New Canaan Police Capt. Leon Krolikowski, residents should screen carefully any unsolicited calls from contractors.
“We are aware of recent scam attempts in Connecticut by individuals taking advantage of post-storm damaged areas,” Krolikowski said.
Suspicious people should be reported to New Canaan police at 203-504-3500.
“Communities in Connecticut have experienced property crimes, to include burglaries and larcenies, which are related to post-storm conditions,” Krolikowski said.
