An officer who stopped Vartuli’s car at the bottom of Heritage Hill Road (at Forest) smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and saw a metal marijuana grinder in a sneaker behind the passenger seat, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.

Exiting the car, Vartuli also handed over a very small amount of pot from the back pocket of his jeans, Ogrinc said.
