New Canaan Police Deal with 2 Instances of Juvenile Drinking

New Canaan police dealt with two instances of juveniles drinking on Friday, which resulted in one trip to the hospital for a a female student and one male facing charges at a youth officer level.

According to police this week, two instances of alcohol consumption by a minor occurred on Friday, October 11. In the first case, police were dispatched to New Canaan High School at approximately 2:45 p.m. for reports of an intoxicated female. According to police, the school was having a pep rally that day, and the girl was seen vomiting and taken to the nurse's office.

Police said the girl was found to be intoxicated and was transported to Norwalk Hospital for her safety.

At approximately 10 p.m., officers were then dispatched to Weed Street for reports of a loud party. Upon arriving, they discovered numerous youths in the area, empty beer cans and bottles and Solo cups strewn about and several drinking games set up, police said.

A juvenile at the scene, stopped by officers as partygoers attempted to scatter, was issued an infraction for possession of alcohol by a minor in a public place after he was found carrying booze while running, police said. There were no parents home at the time of the party, police said.

Both cases are being handled by a youth officer at the high school level.
