New Canaan Residents Receiving Scam Jury Duty Phone Calls

New Canaan Police reported Friday afternoon that, around 3:15 p.m. that day, residents alerted authorities they were receiving phone calls attempting to scam them out of money by someone identifying themselves as a police officer. 

According to a message from police delivered by phone system, a man identifying himself as a police officer was calling New Canaan residents informing them they would have to pay $2,000 or be arrested for skipping jury duty. 

New Canaan police said this is false information. They are asking anyone who receives a similar call to contact authorities at (203) 594-3500
