A 17-year-old New Canaan male was charged with possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor following a motor vehicle stop on Friday, Oct. 12.
According to police, an officer observed a vehicle heading south on Main Street moving faster than the posted speed limit of 30 m.p.h. The officer followed the vehicle, which didn't slow down.
The officer then pulled over the vehicle. An odor of marijuana was detected when police interviewed the driver. The vehicle was searched, and the officer found marijuana and rolling papers inside the center console, as well as beer in the back seat.
The youth is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 23.
