New Canaan Woman Facing DWI Charges After Car Found Parked in Street

A New Canaan woman faces DWI charges after police said they discovered her car parked in the middle of the road along Main Street, police said this week.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, officers were dispatched to Old Norwalk Road near Main Street at approximately 1:21 a.m. on September 21 for reports of a car parked in the middle of the road.

Police canvased the area and discovered Susan M. Kammler, 49, of 67 Shagbark Drive, walking down the road, Ogrinc said. She told police the car had run out of gas, but, while police were speaking with her, Ogrinc said they found reason to conduct field sobriety tests on Kammler, who'd been operating the car.

Kammler failed the tests and was taken into custody. She was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and posted a $250 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court October 3.
