New Canaan Woman Reports 500 Pieces of Jewelry Stolen from Home

An Indian Waters Drive resident reported more than 500 pieces of various silver, costume and Indian jewelry were stolen from her home at some point in a 45 day period, police said this week.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the 76-year-old woman reported having seen the $10,000 worth of jewelry in the attic area of her home at some point in the last month-and-a-half, but that now it was missing. Ogrinc said a 3'-by-3' silver serving tray valued at $3,000 was also missing.

There were no signs of forced entry into the home and she was not having any kind of work done at the house, Ogrinc said. The incident remains under investigation.
