'No Threat' to New Canaan Schools, Community

Mary Kolek, superintendent of New Canaan schools, issued a statement Friday in response to the tragic school shooting in Newtown.

In response to the school shooting which allegedly occurred this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Dr. Mary Kolek, superintendent of New Canaan Schools, issued the following announcement:

As you may be aware a tragic event has occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown that is receiving extensive amount of press coverage. We have been in touch with the New Canaan Police Department throughout the day to monitor to situation. They continue to indicate there is no threat to the New Canaan community. The schools have procedures in place that guide how to respond to state or national emergencies; these include monitoring the communication to which our young students are exposed and providing support for anyone who may be distressed by these events. Please contact your school administration should you have a question.
