He’s accused of taking the laptop from the Park Street business around 7:16 p.m. on Dec. 28, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.

An employee at the store said he received a call around 6:30 p.m. that night asking if laptops were available in the store, Ogrinc said. About 15 minutes later, a man came in, said he had called about the laptops and—while the Radio Shack employee was helping someone else—walked out with one of four laptops on display, police said.

The worker gave a description of the suspect—an Asian man, thin build, 5-foot-5, wearing a black hat and blue jacket.

Ogrinc credited the officer who responded to the scene with securing a court order to identify the original caller through the phone carrier—police work which helped secure the arrest warrant.

Asked for that policeman’s name, Ogrinc said it was Officer George Caponera.

Nasution turned himself in on the warrant on Feb. 27. He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear March 13 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
