Pets Need to be Ready for Disasters, Too, New Canaan!

With terrible weather predicted to be on the way just in time for Thanksgiving, while you're taking time to spend time with the people you're most thankful for, New Canaan Animal Control Officer Maryann Kleinschmitt wants to make sure you don't forget about the four-legged family in your life.

Kleinschmitt urged Monday that, with all the snow storms and hurricanes the area has seen recently, pet owners prepare an emergency bag for their pets in case of a disaster as well as preparing for their own safety.

See her tips in the video above, and take a peek at this checklist provided by the Humane Society.

Thank you for the valuable information, Officer Kleinschmitt! All too often we just prepare for human evacuation.
