New Canaan Youth Issued Infraction for Alcohol Possession
Reports obtained from the New Canaan Police Department between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.
A group of New Canaan youth were each issued an infraction for possession of alcohol on September 4, according to police.
While patrolling , an officer spotted four male youths on a trail behind , one of whom kicked a beer can away from the group, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said.
When the officer spoke with the boys, they allegedly admitted to having beer in their backpacks and each boy was issued an infraction for possession of alcohol by a minor, Ogrinc said.

Resident Reports Credit Card Fraud
Police are investigating the fraudulent use of a 22-year-old New Canaan woman's credit card by an individual who then requested she mail the items to Alabama, police said.
The woman noticed two purchases made with her debit card on Aug. 29, one of which was a portable Playstation PSP for $255.96 and a purchase on an online pet store $19.99, according to Ogrinc.

Both items were delivered to the woman's home and an individual — potentially the person responsible for the fraudulent purchase — emailed the woman requesting that she mail the items to Alabama. The incident is still under investigation, said Ogrinc.
