Police Arrest Man Accused of 2010 Burglaries

Bernard McAllister was charged in connection with seven New Canaan home burglaries. Police have a warrant for his partner's arrest.

New Canaan police have brought charges against one of two men they say were involved in a string of burglaries in New Canaan and other nearby towns in 2010.

Bernard McAllister, 40, of Lisbon, CT was arrested on May 4 and charged with three counts of second degree burglary, four counts of third degree burglary, four counts of first degree larceny, one count of second degree larceny and two counts of third degree larceny in connection with seven break-ins in New Canaan.

According to police, McAllister and his partner, Mark Missino, 43, of Waterford, CT, could be across the state, including some in Greenwich, Stamford and East Lyme.

The pair were arrested by East Lyme police in November 2010, after a search of a storage facility uncovered 10,000 stolen items. Police said the two men are professional poker players.

The New Canaan burglaries took place over two weekends in January and September last year. Police said the suspects took mostly jewelry and silver, with homeowners reporting losses of between $5,000 and $80,000.

McAllister is currently being held in the Macdougall-Walker Correctional Institution in South Suffield, CT. Bond for the New Canaan charges was set at $350,000.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Missino, and said an arrest is forthcoming.
