Police Arrest Two After Darien Home Invasion

A Hamden couple was arrested Thursday afternoon after a 68-year-old Darien woman told police she was struck in her bedroom by the woman who entered her home with the man, police said.

Darien police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the incident:

The woman, later identified as Alexis Jordan, 22, of Costanzo Court in Hamden, hit the victim with a wooden box before fleeing. The victim received a minor injury that didn't require medical attention.

Jordan was with Michael Apuzzo, 24, who lives at the same Hamden address.

The couple, both in their early 20s, then left the home on Priscilla Lane (the street, but not the exact address is shown here), but not before the victim got a look at their vehicle. The victim, a resident of Priscilla Lane, immediately called police (at 2:55 p.m.), who broadcast a description of the vehicle to patrol cars.

Within minutes, two police officers spotted the vehicle, driven by Apuzzo, on Hollow Tree Ridge Road near its intersection with Linden Avenue.

Jordan and Apuzzo were each charged with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools. Jordan was also charged with third-degree assault on a person over 60 years of age.

A news release emailed Thursday evening by Darien police did not give details about what drugs, drug paraphernalia or burglary tools may have been found in the car.

Jordan and Apuzzo were each held on $250,000 bonds and are scheduled to be arraigned Friday in state Superior Court in Stamford. If they make bond, they are scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 10.
