Police Blotter: Disputes, Burglary

New Canaan Police dealt with two disputes and a burglary report last week.

Woman Arrested After Bout with Mother: 

Olivia J. Flora, 20, of Parade Hill Road was arrested around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, after she allegedly got into a loud argument with her mother and neighbors called police. Flora had reportedly been drinking and is accused of punching and scratching her 54-year-old mother in the course of the fight, although no one suffered injuries requiring medical attention. The young woman was charged with disorderly conduct and third degree assault and held overnight at New Canaan Police headquarters on $1,000 bond.

Warrant for Harassment Charges Served:

While he was in court on another matter Jan. 26, New Canaan Police served 20-year-old Andre Genest, Jr. of Avon Street in Ansonia with a warrant for second degree harassment and second degree threatening. A 34-year-old New Canaan resident had reported on Dec. 23, 2009 that Genest had left her five messages—four on one day, and the last on the 23rd—threatening to physically harm her and her children. Genest was arraigned on those charges Jan. 26 and is being held on $10,000 bond.

Vacant House Burglarized: 

A 50-year-old New Canaanite called police Sunday, Jan. 31, to report that someone had broken into a house on Thurton Drive that he was looking after. He said when he went to check on the house earlier that day he noticed a basement window broken and then found a television, stereo equipment, and other electronics missing.  The burglary is suspected to have occurred between Thursday, Jan. 28, and the morning of Jan. 31. A full list of stolen items is being compiled and police are investigating.
