Police Blotter: Harassment Charges; Larceny Reports

One woman's mail swiped; another has purse stolen.

Man Charged for Allegedly Harassing Ex-Wife: 

Michael Nowacki's ex-wife reported to police that she had seen him parked in front of her house around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 22 and that he followed her while she was transporting their daughter to school. New Canaan Police served a warrant in the matter Feb. 24 around 8 a.m. and the 57-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct and driving a vehicle with intent to intimidate or harass in relation to the incident. While he was being arraigned on those charges the next day, Nowacki was served another warrant and charged with harassment in the second degree for allegedly e-mailing a nanny employed by his ex-wife on the evening of Feb. 23 with whom Nowacki is not supposed to make contact. Nowacki was later released on bond set at $50,000 in the first case and $5,000 in the second. 

Nowacki had been arrested Dec. 12, 2009, on similar harassment charges. He is due to enter a plea in that case on March 4.

Mail Swiped:

A 69-year-old resident of Brushy Ridge Road called police Monday, Feb. 22, to report that a whole box of her mail was missing. She had put her mail on hold Feb. 11-18 while she away, but when she went to retrieve it on Friday, Feb. 19, she could not find it at the end of the driveway she shares with her neighbors, though the mail carrier said he had delivered it that day. 

 

House Under Renovation Burglarized: 

A homeowner called police on Tuesday, Feb. 23, to report that a Miele dishwasher, bathroom cabinet, and some shelving worth about $1,000 in total had been taken from his house on Heather Drive which is being renovated. The incident, which did not involve forced entry, occurred sometime between the evening of Feb. 21 and the morning of Feb. 22. 

 

Car Broken into in YMCA Lot: 

A 55-year-old woman from Norwalk reported to police on Wednesday, Feb. 24, that her purse had been stolen from her car while she was at the YMCA. She had left her purse on the passenger-side floor of the car around 4:15 p.m., when she returned around 5:50 p.m. she noticed that the right front passenger window had been smashed and the black seatbelt bag, worth about $250 and containing credit cards, a driver's license and about $6 in cash, was gone. 

 

Resident Reports Identity Theft: 

A 53-year-old resident of Canoe Hill Road reported to police Saturday, Feb. 27, that he had been contacted by a collection agency seeking payment for $950 worth of online purchases dating back to January 2006. The merchandise had been delivered to someone using an Illinois address who had made the purchases using an account opened using the New Canaan resident's name and a partial social security number.

 

Norwalk woman Turns Herself in on DWI Warrant: 

Alexandra G. Mirbach of Winfield Street in Norwalk turned herself in Monday, Feb. 22. The 27-year-old was charged for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs and speeding on Smith Ridge Road Dec. 8, 2009 around 9:30 p.m. Mirbach posted $2,500 bond and is due in court March 8.
