Police Blotter: Marijuana Possession; Stolen Clothing; Missing Picket Fence

Police also serve two warrants and issue DUI charges to three.

Stamford Woman Charged With Marijuana Possession

An April 26 traffic stop over a tinted license plate cover led to a charge of marijuana possession, according to a police report. 

Nicole Ditri, 23, of Ingleside Avenue in Stamford was pulled over on Main Street at 6:34 p.m. by an officer who was unable to read her tag due to the attachment. When he approached Ditri, he detected the smell of marijuana and carried out a search of the car, revealing two cigarettes of the drug in the center console and an additional bud stashed in a cigar box.

Ditri was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces, issued a verbal warning for the license plate, and released at the scene. She is scheduled to appear in court May 11.

New Canaan Resident Charged With DUI

Amy Buck, 49, of New Canaan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs on April 26. Around 8:22 p.m., an officer on routine patrol saw Buck driving without her headlights on and followed the vehicle north on Park St., where she was observed weaving over the double yellow line.

When the officer stopped Buck on Main Street near Heritage Hill Road, she reportedly slurred her speech and appeared disoriented. Field sobriety tests were administered and her car searched, yielding a wooden pipe with marijuana residue. Buck was charged with the DUI, as well as two traffic violations and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $250 bond and is set to appear in court May 10.

Woman Turns Self In On Warrant

Jasminka Baney, 29, of Frogtown Road in New Caanan turned herself to police May 11 on a warrant for failure to appear. She was originally charged on April 12 with operating a vehicle under suspension but failed to show up to her court date. Baney was processed and released and is set to appear in court May 11.

Police Respond To Wallet Theft

Police were dispatched to 102 Main Street on April 28 at 3:13 p.m. after a report of a stolen wallet. The victim, a 37 year-old woman, told police that she had noticed the wallet missing from her purse the night before and that her credit cards had been used since the disappearance.

Warrant Served At Norwalk Court

On April 29, New Canaan Police served a warrant to Andre Ford, 25, of Tennessee at Norwalk Superior Court for failure to pay or enter a plea for an earlier infraction. Ford, who was transported from Hartford Correctional Center where he is being held on separate charges, did not respond to a June 2009 charge of soliciting without a permit by the October 2009 deadline.

DUI Arrest Made In Parking Lot

Joseph D. Bodak Jr., 67, of East Avenue in New Canaan was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under of the influence of alcohol and/or drugs on April 29. Around 7:46 p.m., police responded to a report of erratic driving around the intersection of Route 123 and Route 106. Using the plate number provided by the caller, police tracked the car to the parking lot of Bodak's building, where he was found still inside the vehicle appearing disheveled and smelling of alcohol.

Police administered sobriety tests, arrested Bodak, and released him on $200 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court May 13.

High-Priced Bracelet Believed Stolen

On May 1 at 9:51 a.m., Police responded to a report of a missing bracelet with an estimated worth of $7600. The complainant, a 59 year-old woman of West Rd., told police she believed the bracelet of gold, sapphire, and diamond had been stolen from her home since she last wore it on April 14, noting that between four and six people had performed work on her house in the interim. Police are still investigating the incident.

Section Of Picket Fence Goes Missing

A 78 year-old Lambert Road resident reported on May 1 that an 8 to 10 foot section of white picket fence, valued at about $300, was stolen from his yard. Police said the complainant noticed the disappearance around 2:30 p.m., and that he had last seen the fence on April 25.

Mailbox Vandalism On Ponus Ridge Road

On May 1, a 60 year-old male reported that his Ponus Ridge Road mailbox has been vandalized around 9:42 p.m. The complainant reportedly heard a loud noise, went outside, and wrote down the license plate of a vehicle in the vicinity when he saw the damage to his mailbox, estimated at $200.

Officers were able to make contact with the teen who had been driving the vehicle, as well as two others who had been inside, but issued no charges.

DUI Charge On Smith Ridge Road

Around 12:07 a.m. on May 2, an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound over the speed limit on Smith Ridge Road near North Wilton Road. When he stopped the vehicle, he noticed a strong smell of alcohol and slurred speech coming from the driver, Ryan Van Allsburg, 25, of North Salem, N.Y. 

After administering sobriety tests, the officer arrested Ryan on charges of speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He posted $250 bond and is set to appear in court May 10.
