Police Blotter: Would-Be Solicitors Arrested as Would-Be Burglars

Girls victims of alleged theft, boys alleged culprits in unauthorized garden pruning.

Man Cited for Soliciting in New Canaan Charged in Stamford Burglary:

It appears New Yorker Gordon Waldron, 24, and another man were not really trying to sell magazines when they were cited by New Canaan Police May 6 for soliciting without a permit. According to a Stamford Advocate report, the next day Stamford Police arrested Waldron and Paul Keller in relation to an alleged burglary after they were seen soliciting in a neighborhood there. He is in jail on $90,000 bond after being charged with one count of conspiracy to commit burglary in the 2nd degree, and once count of conspiracy to commit burglary in the 3rd degree in the Stamford case.

Girls Lose Bags:

A pair of young girls reported to police at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 15, that their bags had been swiped from the front steps of the Outback Teen Center. They had left the bags there unattended while they went to get coffee. Both bags contained a collection of books and make-up.

Boys Ruin Garden:

A resident of Parish Road reported to police Monday, May 17, around 5 p.m. that she had found a group of five boys "slashing" her flowers with driveway markers. When they ran off, she followed them to a house down the street. The adult at home there gave the complainant the names of the kids involved in the alleged incident. The youth officer will be following up.
