Police Confirm James Owen Made 911 Call Before Shooting

The dispatcher attempted to call him back, but he didn't pick up, according to police.

 

James Owen called 911 after , Sgt. Carol Ogrinc confirmed Thursday.

"The 911 call that was made regarding the Park Street incident was made by James Owen from his cell phone," Ogrinc wrote in an email to Patch. "The dispatcher did attempt to call his cell phone after the 911 call, but received no answer."

In the phone call, Owen reports to the dispatcher that there were shots fired at his 131 Park Street apartment. The dispatcher asks Owen what's going on there, but it appears Owen hung up.

The state's medical examiner confirmed Tuesday that Billie Falgout-Owen, 52, died on Friday, Sept. 21 due to a gunshot wound to the head, the result of a homicide. James Owen, 48, also died from a gunshot wound to the head, the result of a suicide.

Police said Wednesday they were unsure whether a note was left behind, but were searching through a computer seized from the residence and said a note might be found on it.
