Police Crackdown Planned For Motorists Who Illegally Pass School Buses

Officers will ride buses

Police announced this morning that they will assign officers to ride in school buses and in unmarked cars behind buses to crack down on motorists who illegally pass stopped buses.

Police noted that video cameras are installed on all school buses and can capture motorists who pass a bus that has its lights flashing.

The crackdown has been initiated because of increased traffic duirng the holiday season, police said in a press release.

State law requires a motorist to stop at least 10 feet from a bus with flashing lights, police said.
