A 40-year-old Gerdes Road woman told police that $672 was drawn from her checking account by an auto insurance provider, though she has no accounts with the business.
Police are investigating the report as a larceny, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department.
At about 2:35 p.m. on Feb. 14 (Valentine’s Day), the woman called police to say that the money appeared to have been debited by Geico Insurance Co., Ogrinc said.
It isn’t clear how her account number was obtained. The woman since has canceled her debit account, Ogrinc said.
