Police: James Owen Likely Called 911 Before Shooting [AUDIO]

The investigation into the double shooting that occurred on Friday is still ongoing.

After allegedly shooting his wife Billie D. Falgout Owen and before taking his own life, New Canaan police believe James Owen is likely to have made a phone call to 911 reporting shots fired at the Park Street apartment where the married couple lived.

An audio clip obtained by Patch contains a man's voice calling 911 to report "shots fired" at 131 Park Street before the caller seemingly hangs up. The audio clip is attached to this article.

The investigation into the double shooting is still ongoing, Ogrinc said. She said officers are conducting interviews and examining some items, including a computer, taken from the apartment.

Was a note left behind?

"We don't know at this time," Ogrinc said, adding there's a possibility a note might be found on the computer.

Ogrinc said the department is still waiting on an official autopsy report, though they've received a preliminary report. Ogrinc said she's unsure whether toxicology reports will be prepared.
