Police: Live-in Boyfriend, 52, Hits Girlfriend's Son, 13

A dispute between a man and the son of his girlfriend resulted in the son getting a minor injury on his face and the man getting arrested, New Canaan police said.

A 52-year-old man living with his girlfriend on Birchwood Avenue hit her son, 13, in the face on Jan. 19, according to New Canaan police, who later arrested the man.

Police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the matter:

The boy was hit during a dispute at home which escalated into pushing and eventually more than that until the teenager received a minor injury on his face. His mother, 46, reported the matter to police shortly after 8 p.m. that day.

The man had left the home by the time police arrived, and they weren't able to find or contact him, so they applied for and later received an arrest warrant from a judge.

At 10 a.m., Saturday, the man turned himself in at New Canaan police headquarters, where he was arrested on charges of risk of injury to a minor (a felony), third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
