A New Canaan couple got into a physical altercation in Darien on Monday, with the woman later complaining of head pain and the man having various cuts and bruises, police said.
Both were charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Neither the man nor the woman required medical treatment, police said.
Darien police gave this account of the incident and arrest:
The couple were on Hoyt Street, returning home to New Canaan from a party when they got into a verbal argument that turned physical. The woman, 43, decided to report the incident to New Canaan police.
Since the incident occurred in Darien, at about 12:30 p.m., two Darien police officers went to the New Canaan Police Department to look into the incident.
As a result, the man, 43, and the woman were each charged with disorderly conduct. The woman was issued a misdemeanor summons and was scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Stamford. Her case was later continued to Jan. 22.
The man, who has various other unrelated charges pending in Stamford Court—including threatening, harassment and operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended—was held on $1,000 bond, pending his appearance the same day in the same court. He was later released on bond and his case was continued to Jan. 17.
