Police: Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Park Street

A motor vehicle accident just before 7:25 p.m. in downtown New Canaan resulted in a 45-year-old pedestrian being taken to Norwalk Hospital, police said.

A 45-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Park and Elm streets in downtown New Canaan just before 7:25 p.m. Thursday, New Canaan police said.

The victim, a resident of South Salem, NY, was crossing Park Street when a a 2009 Mercedes , 4 door sedan traveling south on that street struck her, police said. The intersection is at the northeast corner of the New Canaan train station.

She was taken to Norwalk Hospital by New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The driver, 24, also a South Salem resident, immediately stopped and stayed at the scene, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Correction: New Canaan Police say the victim is 45 years old, not 50 years old, as originally announced.
